Menace of the Ice Spire XP/Loot
1250 XP each
heh yeah probably a sensible choice, they won’t stand next to a field of death unless they can’t help themselves ;) Not as stupid as they look!
re-trained the thing that deals damage to adjacent enemies – they figure it out and move away! took something else instead which allows me to pull enemies towards me, should be more useful. Pesky monsters.
Lady of the shadows: 716 XP
Love the ritual :).
Also, nice loot table. Looks pretty handy!
XP Chart is up!
I’ll bring the usual cracker tin of goodies.
Don’t forget a pencil!
So is everyone okay for around noon tomorrow at mine?
I’ve filled out my background now. Ishis ends up in Loudwater seeking rumours. No idea how he actually meets people though – he’s a bit of a loner. Probably just finds them when entering a bar looking for said rumours. I’ll leave that bit up to everyone else I guess.
As for books, my main background is from Dragon Magazine #383 only because it roughly matches that given by my created history. I’m not using any bonus from it though.
Everything else is now strictly Player’s Handbooks 1 & 2, and until I work out how my character plays, it’ll probably stay that way unless I see something I really want. At which point we haggle ;).
I guess it’s the DMs call on what books you can use.
I think I might have picked a feat or skill from the Martial Power book, but generally I’m trying to stick to PHB1+2. Most of the new feats are all either too specific or involve animal companions anyway and that’s not the route I want to go down.
I’ll have to think up of an improved background. I currently just chose Lightlost since it fit with the way I set up my stats, skills and wanted to speak Dwarven. I’ll fill that out later, as well as adding some basic character traits/flaws.
Well, we have a tank, so if we have 5 players a normal, we’ll need 1 fairly focussed healer/leader, 2 dps, and probably a healer/dps hybrid like a paladin in order to top up the healer.
We could have a battle cleric, using dragon magazines and divine power, since they land attacks that do no damage, but cause other people attacking those targets to get temporary or real hitpoints back. But that’s using pretty much everything from currently disallowed content, and it’s rather boring to play ;).
I’ll see what everyone else wants to play before I pick a class, I’m thinking perhaps Babarian or Invoker perhaps.
Oh cool, i can see the entire character sheet! That’s pretty nifty ;)
I wouldn’t mind having a look at the extra stuff from the magazines, just so I’m aware of what’s going on! I would prefer everyone stick to PHP1+2 for now, especially when it comes to character classes and races, just to keep it simple, but there is no reason why you can’t make up a background of a native character if you like. (Toril is mostly humans, halflings, elves and dwarves anyway, its not like the NPCs in towns are going to be friendly demon spawn !!)
Please go ahead and make up a story for your character and send it my way. I’ll post up some ideas on the wiki for backgrounds.
I’ve kept to PHB1 & 2, although there are a few abilities that I would really like from Dragon Magazines in later levels. Hope that’s okay?
I’ve not yet chosen a god or anything until i’ve read up on them.
My new character ‘Ishis’ is a Goliath Warden and is a Tank and Enemy Control character. It should be visible in the party list if anyone wants to look.
I’ve found generally what material the players use is pretty irrelevant to a DM, so I don’t think it’s that important. In my games I stipulate that someone needs to own the book, just because I’m too honest!
The Forgotten Realms player’s guide might be useful for player backgrounds. I’d want my character to come from somewhere in Toril.
For now, I think PHB 1 + 2, but in the future we can expand to the campaign-specific book too (keeping things simple to start with!)
Are you going to limit what player books we can use, or anything goes?
